eebee Rocks!!
We received the eebees adventures series of books the other day. I must admit, we were both very excited. I’m a bit of a geek. Books excite me, even baby books. And Addie, well she just loves anything new.
So I pull them out of their protective plastic bag they come in, and am immediately struck by how odd eebee looks. Then the more I look at him, the more I realize the genius of him. He is a character that is designed not only to appeal to babies with his bright colors, but the creators have managed to come up with a persona that is compelling to all ethnicities. Pretty amazing feat for a puppet/cartoon character.
The books are amazingly well constructed. We’ve gone through several cloth books that seemed as if they would fall apart almost instantly and usually did. The construction of the book is important given that there are so many activities to do within them. There is Laundry Time which lets infants pull a towel out of laundry bag and put it in a washing machine. The next page even allows you to spin the machine. There is also Have a Ball which lets you play catch and basketball. The 3rd cloth book is Hide and Seek which is pretty self explanatory. It does offer better hiding places and more diverse materials for exploration than most books I’ve seen.
The last two books in the series are not cloth. One is a board book titled All About Me. It has pages dealing with different body parts. The nice thing about it is that it gives simple commands “tummies are for tickling!” “where’s your tummy?” and “let’s tickle your tummy.” It is a great springboard to starting your own games and the giggles that follow could make it a book that takes a long time to get to the end of. Also, I imagine there are times when parents are too tired and wiped out from lack of sleep that any help with simple entertainment is much appreciated. The final book is a plastic one titled Bath Time. I have to be perfectly honest, I have not used this in the tub yet. There are just some nights these days that the baby in my tummy saps all the energy, even the stuff that should be given to Addie. I am supremely confident, however, that this book will probably be the biggest hit here. Anything that can go in the tub is solid gold.
My only complaint, and not even so much that, more of a quandary, is that these books are labeled for 9-36 months. I thought before even giving them to Addie, who is about 2.5 years old, that she was a little beyond them. I was willing to give them a fair shake though. She did play with them and seemed to enjoy them. They did not hold her attention for an extraordinary amount of time. If I had to guess though, I would say they are more suited for the younger crowd. I would almost say to put the cap at 24 months, but that is strictly my opinion. That being said, I can’t wait to share them with my new little guy who will be here in a few weeks.
You can find all the info about eebee here. http://www.eebee.com/ You better take the time to get to know eebee very well. I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. And I for one am quite happy about that.
