The Morris Bunch: Eebee’s Review!

We recently received a set of DVD’s from Every Baby’s Eebees adventures. I love educational DVD’s and television shows. But trying to find something that meets my needs and my child’s needs isn’t always easy. I am always on the look for videos that are fun and educational. I need something that is going to hold a small child’s attention for more than 5 minutes. But I don’t want to plop them in front of the tv and let them watch shows that aren’t going to benefit them.

I was excited to try these videos but I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was surprised to find that Eebee captured the attention of not only my 9 month old but it captured my 3- and 5-year old’s attention. I am now able to get some much needed mommy time to finish dishes, cook or just shower!

Finding playtime activities can be hard when you are trying to find something that all the kids can do. Eebee’s provided some fun activities that even my 5 year old enjoyed as well as my 9 month old. This video shows the girls interacting with some of the ideas that they got from Eebee’s.

The Morris Bunch

Eebee’s believes that through play, a child is figuring things out about objects and people.

Questions begin to form and through play, they can find answers. As the child develops, the questions, theories and solutions continue to evolve. Play also helps them master a variety of physical, social and intellectual skills.

I think Eebee’s would make great gifts for children 5 and under. I would highly recommend them! Help your child grow and learn with Eebee’s adventures. Use these adventures as you and your children interact with each other as well! Bring them home and prepare yourself to have a lot of fun watching your children explore.

TO BUY:

Eebee’s adventures can be found right on their site. Each DVD is $17.95 or you can buy all three for $48.45.

Full Nest Reviews: eebee’s adventures (DVD), from Every Baby Company

A riddle for you:

What close companion of Brooke Shields, Amy Poehler, and Jennifer Lopez did I recently have the chance to meet?

Give up?

It’s eebee, from eebee’s adventures!

eebee, the colorful dread-locked puppet created by Every Baby Company, embodies the philosophy that “Every baby learns by doing.” There are toys, gifts, books, and clothing in the eebee’s adventures line, but our family was pleased to be able to review the three DVDs available: All in a Day’s Play!, Figuring Things Out!, and Exploring Real Stuff!.

In my reading about eebee on the internet, I had seen these videos referred to as the anti-Baby Einstein experience. I both agree and disagree with this. First of all, eebee’s adventures are similar to Baby Einstein in that both DVD series are based on observation – meaning, you’re not going to find any characters urging your children to shout commands at the television screen or help them find their lost pony. Your preschooler (or older) children might find eebee engrossing for a short while, but this series (like Baby Einstein) is not meant to get your kids up and dancing and interacting with animations. Rather, most of eebee’s adventures happen quietly, in very everyday settings, with everyday objects. Babies and toddlers will likely be more absorbed by this observation of people who look very much like them, in environments very much like their own.

While eebee’s adventures perhaps does not differ so much from Baby Einstein’s approach, it does seem to differ widely from its intentions. Every Baby Company has moved away from stressing the teaching of facts – colors, letters, numbers, shapes – to babies, and wholly embraced the idea that “Every baby learns by doing.” From the Every Baby Company website:

Babies will instinctively:

* Take initiative and act on their natural curiosity

* Make clear choices among different materials and experiences

* Vary their strategies and try different approaches

* Persist at a goal and stick to a task

* Share their discoveries and seek social interaction

These are the real basic skills of your baby’s first years and these are the hallmarks of great thinkers and achievers. The research is clear that the best way for babies to grow and strengthen these skills—the skills they need to succeed in life—is to play.

Based on this philosophy, the eebee’s adventures DVDs are filled with scenes of eebee playing with blankets, the laundry basket, measuring cups, cheerios, beans, mirrors, water, balls, soft blocks and more, all with an adult companion or another young child. The idea is that the ordinary becomes the extraordinary in eebee’s eyes, and hopefully in you and your child’s eyes, as well. See excerpts from the DVDs on the front page of the eebee website.

What did my own toddler think of the series? He was intrigued! He watched and chuckled and even frowned a little when trying to figure out what the heck eebee was doing amidst the pile of laundry (after all, doesn’t mommy get upset when *I* do that, he must have thought to himself). I will say that two of the three DVD were 75 minutes long, though, and my son was satisfied at about 25 minutes. Which is fine, given the STOP button on the DVD player!

I think I was probably most impressed by the special features on the DVDs, which include fascinating interviews with parenting experts, among them Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, Ph.D, co-author of Einstein Never Used Flashcards. As entertaining as eebee’s adventures may be for a baby or toddler, the advice and guidance given to parents presents a valuable wealth of knowledge on child development. This is not a DVD series meant to simply be turned on so you can grab some free time while your little one zones out – it meant to entertain AND inspire both parent and child.

simple: eebee’s adventures

I’m not a huge advocator of propping my girls up in front of the television to zone out. But, movies and TV are a part of our lives and in small doses; and I’m ok with that. Sometimes we are just so go, go, go that a little down time resting in front of an educational program is a very welcome reprieve for me.

eebees adventures are videos for your young ones (6 month to +12month range) designed to transform every day play and exploration into learning that last. The videos encourage active learning, simple exploration, and environmental interaction.

When I watch my youngest interact with her surroundings, I get a small glimpse into her ever curious mind. What might seam dull and mundane to us adults (folding laundry, organizing the shoes, cleaning the kitchen) is an adventure waiting to happen for a toddler. I love eebee adventures because it teaches learning through doing; and I can totally see it happening in my toddler.

Currently the 3 DVD available ($17.95 each) are exploring real stuff, figuring things out and all in a day’s play. In addition to this great video series, we can’t resist silly eebee doll – it’s a playtime must have at our house.

The company motto is to “transform everyday play into learning that lasts”, and it’s clear that they are well on their way to achieving this goal will flying colors. What I’ve enjoyed the most from eebee is that it’s simple enough for my toddler to enjoy, and also interesting enough to keep my preschoolers attention. Win-Win at our house!

GET YOUR OWN – All the eebee adventure DVD’s and toys can be purchased online at the eebee official website.

WIN YOUR OWN – We have a if the shape fits eebee shape sorter ($32) for one lucky Simple reader. To be entered, leave us a comment letting us know what your little ones favorite “everyday adventure” is. (and if you are an expectant parent, what are you most excited to teach your new one).

Winner will be chosen randomly and announced April 13th, 2008.

Toy Fair 2009: If the Shape Fits Eebee – droolicious

Posted by elizabeth leach

What could be better than a stackable, loveable, color-sorting doll? The newest toy from Eebee’s Adventures is called “If the Shape Fits eebee” and the name says it all. Like all of Eebee’s Adventures, this toy asks our babies (and us) to think outside the shape! Not only do the shapes fit eebee, but we can wear them, too. The shapes can be anything we imagine them to be.

Each shape is a different size, shape and color. The eebee doll is 12″ and wears cute knit pants. If the Shape Fits eebee will be available this spring and will retail for $32. This toy is for ages six months and beyond.

eebee’s HAVE A BALL adventures

Fall 2008 Doing & Learning
Ages: 9 months & Up
Adapted By: Colorbridge Books
Author: Sandy Damashek
Illustrator: David Cutting
Illustrator: Paul Colin
Publisher: Sterling Publishing/eebee’s adventures
ISBN: 978140275771-6
Hardcover Price: $14.95

Review:
Accept eebee’s invitation to catch his ball and take this timeless toy through a day of bouncing fun. Parents can demonstrate and narrate the action for a baby while toddlers clutch the kid-sized ball and follow the directions. Unlike most balls, this one never gets lost; it’s attached to a string. Play catch, hide the ball behind some pillows, roll it down the slide, toss it in the mesh basket, or transport it in eebee’s wagon to get the adventure rolling. Eebee’s simple crinkle sound effects, a refreshing change from books that accost us with sounds, leave plenty of room for your child to provide the commentary.

eebeeeebee’s adventures: Move over Baby Einstein, this new brand of behavior-focused learning tools for infants and toddlers is poised to be part of the “must have” developmental arsenal for Parenting 2.0. With an emphasis on “doing” instead of “watching,” the brand’s products focus on the basic, fundamental behaviors that are organic and typical of early childhood development. In other words, rather than attempting to prematurely bombard infants with their ABCs and 123s, eebee focuses on developing the social, physical and cognitive skills that occur naturally during this life stage. Developed by two male early childhood experts (and fathers themselves), their DVD series feature “on-the-floor, behavior-based conversations” with real toddlers, parents, and basic everyday objects.

eebee’s Adventure Play Mat and Activity Play House

Spring 2008 Toys
Ages: 6 months – 3 yrs.
Producer: Every Baby Company
Price: $90.00

Review:
If simplicity in a toy encourages creativity, then Eebee’s Adventure Play Mat and Activity Playhouse scores big for exploration, imagination and pretend play. Each panel has just enough on it to draw your child into investigating and exploring but doesn’t over stimulate her. The mirror, water window, pop out hole, large colorful Eebee face and window with a peek-a-boo curtain get the action started. There are limited sounds and no lights to distract your child’s curiosity and inhibit later pretend play. Don’t you want a toy that can grow with your child and interest siblings too? Let your 6 month-old baby explore the colorful, textured panels connected in a flat mat on the floor and as she grows, pick up the panels to make a house or corral, while later, invite her to build a structure herself, topped with a roof. There is no limit to creative play as your child reveals the velcro on the panel edges to connect the pieces, pops out the circle that’s firm enough to use as a toddler’s seat, and peeks through the window to chat with the outside world.

Color & Imagination!

Eebee Adventure Play mat & Activity Play House has won the parent’s choice gold award and it was easy to see why as soon as I opened this fun play mat! I was originally intrigued by the vivid colors and stripes on the mat, but as I started to play around with it I was amazed by all it had to offer. When it comes to a play mat for your baby this is a smart investment to make because it will grow with your child. My 3 year old thought it was really fun and 4 month old Jaden enjoyed it as well.

The pad is really thick and comfy. It is smartly designed with easy to Velcro sides so that you have the freedom to create the shape you desire. It’s nice to lay the mat completely flat for a baby or to set it up vertical for visual stimulation. If you have an older child you can construct tunnels and houses – Connor had a ball trying to build his own creations with it.

Each of the 6 squares that make up the play mat have unique ways to stimulate your munchkin. The hair on the little boy is just the right size for little hands to grasp and has a fun feel to it. The polka dots have different textures to touch and the little blue shade can be pulled up to reveal a window (fun for playing peekaboo). It also has a mirror and a water mat to play with. The removable circle makes a jingling sound and Jaden enjoyed using it as a drum. Connor used it as a wheel. I love that this mat allows children to be so creative!!

Eebee has created the perfect play station for little ones! You can save 10% off your purchase at Eebee!!! Just enter the word eebee in the coupon code box when you go to checkout.

Eebee’s Adventures — Infants, Toddlers and Reading

**Keep reading – infant and toddler book and DVD giveaway ahead!**

One of the missions of the Every Baby Company is to, “transform everyday play into learning that lasts.” This idea really resonates with me, and I assume most parents feel the same way.

To accomplish this goal, Stephen Gass and Don Burton, the co-founders of this company, have developed an “award-winning” DVD and book series entitled Eebee’s Adventures. They recently sent me some of their deluxe cloth activity books to review, and I must admit I was very pleased with how interactive and educational these items were.

For example, in Eebee’s “Laundry Time” adventure babies get to interactively play by taking soft towels out of the laundry bag and by putting them into the “washer.” At the end, they also get to help hang the clothes on a line and then put them away in drawers.

In Eebee’s “Have A Ball” adventure, babies get to interactively play catch with Eebee and they also get to give the ball attached in the book a ride in a wagon.

If you would like a chance to win some of these interactive Eebee’s Adventure products, then please visit the Eebee website. While there, choose which Eebee DVD and which Eebee book you would like to win. After you have made your selections, then please come back to this post and leave a comment telling me what you have decided before Saturday August 9th. You will also be sent a free Eebee doll. Sorry, this giveaway is limited to United States residents only.

And remember, even if you don’t have children that fit these age ranges, these products will still make great baby shower gifts or you can keep them on hand for when grandkids, nieces, nephews and other little ones come to visit you.

*************************************************

One other thing the Every Baby Company sent me were some tips on reading to babies:

  • Be a playful reader and don’t take it too seriously. Use a silly voice, sing, repeat words, create a game for turning a page, draw connections between what’s on the page and other things in your baby’s view. Reading is a launch pad for rich language play and interaction.
  • Try to be on the same page literally and figuratively. While you might feel compelled to read every word on every page, it’s OK to stop if your baby loses interest. If your baby seems particuarly interested in a certain page, activity you’ve created, word or way in which you are reading … it’s OK to repeat. “Let’s read that again!”
  • When your baby begins to respond to what’s inside of books, add board books and even magazines — anything with pictures of familiar objects, animals or toys that babies can easily identify. When talking starts, choose books and magazines that invite him or her to repeat simple words or phrases.
  • Be a role model for you baby and don’t forget to read for yourself.

Happy Summer Reading!

Eebee’s review

Parent Bloggers Network has introduced me to another great product.

When it comes to finding entertainment for my children I am all for trying new things. With six kids running around, I am always looking for something for them to do, or better to learn from.

Eebee’s adventures is a great video for our family and something I would buy without a moment hesitation for any mom. The video and the accompanying soft bath book we received, would make a wonderful gift for any mom with little kids. The book is a hit in the bath tub,–just taking a book in the bath tub is breaking a taboo, and toys that suck in and spit out water are always a favorite — and the video is educational.

So what’s the video about?

Eeebe, the protagonist, is a puppet baby with wild hair and a blue arm. He’s an adventurous little bugger who crawls around through pretty tame scenarios that will look familiar to your own baby or toddler. The DVD is called “Figuring Things Out,” and shows real interactions between eebe and his flesh and blood tv-mother. They do lots of things and activities together, for example climbing a mountain of pillows, which my daughters have wanted to do with me.

It’s simple stuff, but that’s part of the appeal. My two-year old little girl wasn’t asking for eebee to scale Everest; she seemed pretty happy with the pillows.

She also loves the theme song – but a word of warning. It might just drive you insane. I’ve been singing it in my head for days (“eebee beebee beebee baby, eebee beebee beebee baby boo, eebee beebee beebee baby, eebee beebee baby I love you”). Like the rest of the DVD, the song is very simple, but catchy.

My infant isn’t as intrigued by it as the toddler. And there is one advantage over other kids’ videos (maybe this is just my pet peeve): my copy of eebee goes straight to the menu screen. Yup, no promos, no annoying advertisements that can’t be bypassed, but an actual menu screen. I like not being forced to watch endless previous with my toddler who is getting inpatient by the minute.

The video extras explain that there is a lot of professional input from developmental educators that goes into the dvds. Will you notice it? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s certainly better than most kids programs, and again, I liked its simplicity. I don’t like videos that have too many flashing lights and quick cuts. This one takes its time.

So give eebee a try. You won’t be disappointed. Now please excuse me while I look for something – anything – to get that song out of my head.

Eebee’s

Eebee's Adventure: Laundry Time Are you looking for a great book- focusing on entertainment and education? Up until recently I had never heard of the Every Baby’s Company. I cannot tell you enough how much sooner I wish I would have discovered their products. Having these books around when babysitting for the nephews has proven to be a success. Not only do they love interacting with the book, but the various colors and textures make these books a hit!

Just recently Every Baby’s Company released a new book series from eebee’s adventures — helping parents turn everyday play into learning that will last a lifetime! Each book represents a baby exploring their surroundings.

eebee’s Having a Ball Adventures: helps baby explore what up, down, over, under, in, out and my turn-your turn is all about. Inside the book you will find a soft, tethered ball that invites babies to exercise their skills through games like catch to basketball.

eebee’s Laundry Time Adventures: will allow babies to explore words, sounds and textures — encouraging imagination. Your baby is able to take soft towels out of the laundry bag to put into the “washer,” spin the peek-a-boo washing machine wheel to wash the laundry, hang eebee’s pajamas on the line and lastly put them away in the drawers.

eebee’s Peek-a-Boo Adventures: starts on the cover. Find eeebee by opening and closing the curtains. You will also be able to look for eebee behind a silky scarf, a shiny raincoat, under a sunhat and crawling trhough a pop-up tunnel. There is no hiding the fabulous opportunities for skill building that this book has to offer.

eebee’s Hug and Splash Adventures: Two adventures for double the discoveries!

All About Me & You: Not only is this a book, but a game as well. All About Me & You is an adventure about eebee’s body and baby’s body too! Each page of the book has an interactive board game design specifically with babies in mind. Use the book-sized mirror to look and play along with eebee.

Bath Time Adventure is sure to be a splash! When opening the book, place it cover-up in the tub and watch it “float.” Submerge the book in the tub to fill up the squirters and squeeze for a gentle spray. Babies will play and learn with water as eeebee takes his bath!

eebee is a cutie

Parent Bloggers asked me to review one of “eebee’s adventures” dvds, and to be perfectly honest, I initially found it to be a little weird. eebee is a puppet, admittedly pretty cute, who explores all kinds of different methods of play in the dvd- Exploring Real Stuff. eebee, and other babies featured during the video, play and explore with cheerios, rice, paper, wrapping materials, balls, and other equally common objects and manipulate them in different ways. All sorts of experimentation takes place, from dumping to scooping to tearing to crumpling to rolling and sliding.

The real test of the dvd, of course, came from playing it for Gabriel. In the end, what I think doesn’t really matter, if the real critic in our family liked or disliked it. He was mesmerized. I was sure it would be a little young for him, since the age range for this particularly dvd started at 6 months (although others on the website start at different ages), but as usual, I was totally wrong. Whenever the screen would shift and the title of the next scene came on, Gabe would scream “more baby!” at the television. He loved the puppet, eebee, and he loved watching the other babies play with the different objects on the screen. He kept inching closer and closer to the television to see the babies up close and personal, and would occasionally turn around to comment to me on what he was seeing.

Besides being entertaining, I almost wanted to pull out paper and a pen to take notes on the different things the babies were playing with in the dvd. It would be a great snowy day activity to fill some containers with rice or beans and let Gabe go to town with a scoop or a tube as they were demonstrating in the movie. I’ll definitely be saving my packaging or wrapping materials for him to do some mini-experiments with tearing and crumbling and pulling. I even started thinking that I should wash out my recycling and let him play with it before I put it out each week. The babies in the dvd seemed to be totally engaged with all of the activities, and I think Gabe might enjoy it too.

In addition to the dvd, we also reviewed eebee’s HAVE A BALL cloth activity book, and Gabe really loved this one. In fact, I’m planning to order a couple as gifts for other ball lovers in our life, because this book was such a hit. The book has a cloth stuffed ball attached on a string, and on each page of the book, the ball is used in a different way. On one page you put it through a hoop, then on another in a pocket, or you hide it behind a pillow on the page, or some other equally cute activity. Gabe couldn’t get enough to playing with it and will often ask for the ball book when we are sitting around. It looks like there are several different books and toys on the website, so there is lots of choose from even if your child isn’t obsessed with balls the way Gabe is.

Gabe was a definite fan of eebee’s adventures, so I can wholeheartedly recommend the book and dvd for the 2 and under crowd. It would make a great holiday present, and eebee is offering some discount codes for 20% off and free shipping on the website. Here are the codes if you’re interested:

Eebee’s Adventures

I think I might have mentioned once or twice that I LOVE books! So I was super-excited to see these come in the mail:

books

Are they cute or what? Eebee’s adventures are perfect for my little Sam — they are short, interactive and indestructable (which is good, because everything goes in his mouth right now). My favorite on is Have a Ball — the Eebee on the front holds a ball in his velcro hands, and each page has another activity to use the ball with (putting it through a hoop, hiding it behind the blanket, stuff like that). It is very cute.

Eebee also has a bath book that floats! How fun is that?

These books are bright and colorful, and they happen to match the decor in Sam’s room. They are so pretty that I am planning to get hooks to hang them on throughout his room! I’ll let you know when I actually get around to that, but until then go check out all of Eebee’s adventures!

P.S. I also like these books because my initials are E.B. Eebee — get it? Yes, I am a dork.

Seven Dogs and A Baby

seven dogs and a baby

Books books everywhere books.

Connor has a book collection that would even make some libraries jealous. He comes by it honestly as his mom grew up with her head stuck in a book so all I did while I was pregnant was search for just the perfect books to add to his collection but very few of his books are board books and even fewer are cloth books. It’s not that I have anything against either I actually love board books as he can read them by himself without me worrying about pages coming up missing, but until recently most fabric books just did not appeal to me.

I’ve never been one for those books with a picture and a name underneath, I realize there is a learning objective in mind with them as it helps babies with recognizing new items but personally I find them boring and I’ve been reading much more complex books to Connor since before he was born so its hard to keep his attention with them as well. Up till now the only cloth book in our collection has been our Haba cloth book which has been the only one that has kept our attention that is until I came across the new cloth books from eebee!

I’ve honestly never seen any of the eebee DVDs but I’ve walked past the one in the Target display countless times always stopping to check out his crazy hair. If his DVDS are anything like his books I’m guessing they are more than worth the money. eebee’s new cloth books are beyond fabulous so much so that even I have a hard time keeping my hands off of them. Each of the books in the series are their own play set.

The first book we tried out from the series eebee’s Peek a Book Adventure follows eebee as you search for him in the book. Is he under the raincoat, behind the purple cloth, under the hat.. each page has eebee hiding behind something new, behind a new texture. Its the perfect book for even the smallest babies to handle especially on long car rides as there is something new to check out on virtually every page.

The next two books are my favorite from the series eebee’s Laundry Time Adventure and eebee’s Having a Ball Adventure. The Laundry Time adventure lets babies experience their first wash. You start the book off given some towels that you can pull through the next page into the washing machine. Once your done you can hang up your clothing to dry on the clothing line. I’m sure your wondering how do you wash clothes in a book or hang them up to dry?! The little outfits are attached to the book by ribbons and you can use them on each page as you move from page to page. A perfect book to play with in a waiting room or anytime you need to quietly entertain a toddler. The only issue is sometimes if you pull the clothes through the dryer you may have to rescue them as Connor has a hard time figuring out how to get them back. Regardless its my favorite of all of his “baby’ books to date as even I have the best time moving the clothes around. eebee’s Having a Ball Adventure is very similar you have a ball tied into the book by a ribbon and you can use it on each page to playing different games with eebee via some carefully placed velcro. You can play catch, basketball, or even roll the ball down the slide. Both of them are unlike anything I have seen in cloth books before!

The last two books in the series come as a set All About Me and You and eebee’s Bath Adventure. All About Me and You is a standard board book with a mirror built in for babies to see themselves and the Bath Adventure is a squishy water safe bath book which has a built in squirter. Both of them are excellent but its just hard to hold a candle to the cloth books!

You can read more about eebee and view the books on eebee’s website. You can pick up all of eebee’s books in their online store as well!

Eeebee Giveaway and Review

Eebee’s adventures is a fun company that designs child products to engage your child and inspire rich play to bring about important lessons. They are all about first hand experience and believe babies learn by doing. Unlike Baby Einstein which has a focus on watching, eebee’s adventures is all about doing! 6t Eebee is a little puppet who plays on th floor with an adult or tot using real, everyday objects! You might see him playing with a brush or piece of paper, for example. The videos aren’t about memorizing ABC’s but instead about exploring.

One thing I really like about these products are that they are for the BABIES not the PARENTS. A lot of products I come across look so cute to the parents, but the babies could care less about them. I’ve found little ones are really drawn to these products because they are about what they are interested in such as balls and laundry!

Until receiving the books for this review, I have to admit that I’d never heard of Eebee. Maybe some of you out there haven’t? I haven’t viewed any of the full length DVD’s but after reading about them had to see what they are all about because they sounded so cool. From reading on line, it sounded like an interactive experience with your little one. So, I headed over to You Tube and found a few videos that are less than 2 minutes in length but I think introduce Eebee pretty well. I have to admit that I may be hooked! I love what I’ve seen of these videos. It’s recommended babies under 2 not watch tv and 2 and older only a couple hours a day. I think what matters is the quality you allow them to watch. Anyway, I want some!

Now, I have had the opportunity to review their very neat books and I want to tell you all about them. They’d make wonderful Christmas presents for sure! I am a book lover and know that one of the most important things you can do for your child is read to them at least one book a day. Sadly, little wild child doesn’t agree with my vision. Before having a child, I’d imagined curling up and reading book after book. Well, when toddlerhood started I can only remember a few instances of finishing an entire children’s book! She wants to turn the pages, look at the pictures, and well frankly I think gets bored a few pages into it. These books however, keep her attention span. There are only a few words-great words that ask her to interact with the book-and the activities keep her loving the book. She is getting an appreciation for books and the joy they can bring to a life. I review a lot of kid products but haven’t seen books like this, with so much interaction. What other books can your kiddo play catch with?

The first item for review is the Peek-A-Boo Adventure Book. The book is geared for ages 9 months and up. It’s a fun little fabric book from the start with eebee hiding behind some curtains that your child can move to reveal a happy little face. There are opportunities to manipulate different objects on every page from lifting the scarf, to opening the vinyl raincoat, sliding a ball, picking up a hat, moving soft blocks, to moving eebee in and out of a mesh tunnel. Unfortunately, I don’t know if words can convey how interactive this book is. Your little one is moving and manipulating with every page! This book received the Parents Choice award Fall 2008 in the Doing and Learning category. It retails for $14.95. This would be great for the little one who likes Peek-A-Boo (or A-BOO as Zhana calls it). When I sat down with my daughter and looked at this book I was very impressed as the giggles kept coming.

Next up is the eebee adventures Have a Ball Book. This book is recommended for ages 9 months and up. On the cover, eebee is holding a ball with velcro and a string attached. Througout the book, the ball goes through several adventures. Little ones can actually play catch with eebee, roll it down a slide, toss it into a mesh basket, hide it behind a crinkle pillow, or even push it in a wagon! Like the book above, this one won a Fall 2008 Parents Choice award in the Doing and Learning Category. It retails for $14.95. Zhana LOVED this book and thought it was so much fun.

Next, is Laundry Time Adventures. This is my daughter’s favorite and mine as well. I personally think this book is most appropriate for toddlers because most of them are very interested in laundry. Zhana adores “helping” me fold laundry, put it away, and ect. Every single page is interactive from putting towels in the washing machine to hanging the clothing out to dry! Your little one will load the washer, spin the washing machine, hang the pj’s, and even put them away in drawers! We only bring this book out during a special time of day-laundry time. As I mentioned earlier, Zhana likes to “help” me do laundry which usually leads to much more work that if I didn’t have my little helper. Instead, I now have her do her own laundry with her little book while I do my laundry. She has enjoyed this quite a bit.

Finally, we have BATH TIME/ALL ABOUT ME SET. The Bath Time book is designed to be played with in the tub. You put the book in water to fill up the squirters and then squeeze it and it sprays. When you press Eebee’s belly, he makes a cute squuek. Recently, I attended a baby shower where I presented this set as a gift to the new mom. This book was quite the hit among the mothers as they were excited to find a bath book. Apparently, bath books are difficult to find? I think it is very cute but I think is more appropriate for around age one than toddlers.

The second book in the set is the ALL ABOUT ME book. Every page of the board book is interactive with questions such as “Where’s your tummy?” The book comes with a fold-out mirror for your baby to look in. The book is all about body parts and is great for little ones learnilearning this concept.

all about me

For those of you that don’t know I have a masters degree in Clinical Psychology and am All but Dissertation completed toward my doctorate in Clincial Psychology, thus companies that use task development and stage explanations for their products earn huge thumbs up from me. Their website really goes beyond just using “jargon” to sell a product though, they discuss tasks and child development for child activities that have nothing to do with their products. For example, on one of their webpages there is a picture of a little girl in her mother’s high heels. The website explains the importance of this moment, how it relates to child development, and how the parent can interact with the moment! I highly suggest you check out the part of their website entitled “Parent Info”. This portion of the website also gives ideas for at home paper adventures, pouring adventures, rolling and sliding adventures, kitchen band, just add water, la la language, and Laundry List of ideas. Such great and cheap ideas! Who would have thought a toy company would be endorsing make-at-home activities? That tells me they are a company with heart and genuine care for our little ones. They also have a great blog, where you can really get to know the company. For example, I think it is great to see the founder playing with his one year old baby girl. BTW, the founder has his own blog about raising his daughter! How many companies do you come across that are like US in that aspect?

You can also watch eebee adventures at Comcast on Demand and at http://www.parents.tv/.
BTW, in case you are wondering Eebee is short for “every baby”. When I started learning about the product, I kept thinking “Why did they choose this name? What is eebee anyway?” However, I finally learned that the name was chosen because of “every baby” and it is a word babies can say.

Great Gift! Soft books from Eebee’s Adventures

Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised when a product that seems to be meant for younger children turns out to be perfect for my three year old, which was the case with these adorable and fun books from Eebee’s Adventures.

eebee books

Each soft, squeezable book has moveable objects on ribbons that the reader moves from one page to another. In Have a Ball!, the child moves the ball to play catch with eebee, roll eebee’s ball down a slide, play basketball, and give the ball a ride in eebee’s wagon.

In Laundry Time, the book has “towels” on a ribbon, and the pages encourage the child to take the soft towels out of the laundry bag and put them “into the washer”, spin the peek-a-boo washing-machine wheel to wash the laundry; hang eebee’s pajamas on the line; then put them away in the drawers. When the laundry’s done, they tuck eebee in for a nap under a fluffy, fleece blanket. Kaitlyn really likes that part wink

Peek-A-Boo is more like hide-and-seek, the reader looks for eebee behind a silky scarf, in a big, shiny raincoat, under a floppy sunhat, crawling through a pop-up tunnel. Eebee’s adventure books are wonderful to take on trips because there are no pieces to lose! Other products in the Eebee’s line include DVDs and stuffed dolls. You can buy the books at Barnes & Noble, and on the Eebee’s website, there is free shipping on orders over $50.00 or 20% off through December 25th.

Next time you are at Barnes & Noble, look for these soft books in the Children’s section. You might find that they are the perfect gift for someone on your gift list!

The Opinionated Parent

opinionated parent

My family has been reviewing the eebee’s Adventures series of baby books from every baby. I’ve got to tell you — when I heard the name eebee, I was pretty sure they’d be incredibly stupid. Because, come on. eebee?

But honestly, these are some really super great baby books! Available at Barnes & Noble for $15 each, they are the perfect addition to a baby gift, first birthday gift, a Christmas package or your own bookshelf.

There are three single books and a two book package, all of which are much more than your average soft book. They’re interactive in ways that are engaging for infants and entertaining for toddlers, too.

A little blurb on each from the press release:

eebee’s Having a Ball Adventures: Babies will play around with some big ideas in this adventure: up, down, over, under, in, out . . . and my turn — your turn. This interactive book includes a soft, tethered ball, inviting babies to exercise social, motor, language, and thinking skills in games from catch with eebee to basketball.

eebee’s Laundry Time Adventures: Babies will explore words, sounds, and textures; exercise fine-motor skills; play imaginatively . . . and get the laundry done. Interactive play activities include taking towels out of the laundry bag and putting them “into the washer”; spinning the peek-a-boo washing-machine wheel; hanging eebee’s pajamas on the line; and putting them away in the drawers.

eebee’s Peek-a-Boo Adventures: Where’s eebee? On the cover of this book, open and close the curtains. Inside the book, look for eebee behind a silky purple scarf, inside a big, shiny raincoat, and behind a movable stack of soft blocks. From exploring textures to anticipating outcomes, there’s no hiding the opportunities for playful skill-building in this exciting search.

eebee’s Hug and Splash Adventures is a two-book set in which each book is also a game. All About Me & You is all about eebee’s body, and a baby’s body too. Fold-out the book-sized mirror to “look and play” along with eebee. Exercise your baby’s social, motor, language, and thinking skills, exploring the body from head to toe! Eebee’s Bath Time Adventure is sure to float a baby’s boat. Open the book and place it cover-up in the tub. Watch eebee float! Submerge the book to fill the squirter and then squeeze it for a gentle spray. Press eebee’s tummy — squeak — eebee’s all clean. As eebee takes a bath, every baby will play and learn with water.

My two year old has claimed the Bath Time Adventure book for himself and delights in squirting his baby sister in the tub and then trying to keep it away from her until he gets a chance to do it again! Both children love the other books and I love that they’re entertaining enough to give me an occasional few minutes of uninterrupted latte drinking.

The Voice of Mom

Review: eebee Have a Ball! Adventures

have a ballMy three-year-old son, Will, loves to read. He is psyched every night to see what book we are reading. My one-year-old daughter, Paige, on the other hand? She’d rather toss the books in the air or grab them and eat them.

Still, even if it’s just for biting, I like Paige to have books that are geared toward her. That’s why I was excited to review eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures. The soft book is filled with a simple adventure of a ball, and it includes a little ball that is tethered to the book. You can shoot the ball through hoops and use it in other ways to interact with the book in an ultra-low tech way. I love low-tech.

The GOOD: eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures is an very soft, ultra-plush book for the youngest future readers in your family. No need to worry about pages tearing, the cloth will take care of that. Plus, if it gets dirty, you just toss it in the wash. Also, the interactivity of this book with the tethered ball is a great way to get little kids interested.

The BAD: None to speak of.

MONEY MATTERS: eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures retails for $14.99 and is available in stores and online at retailers like Amazon.

The MOM VERDICT

Sarah says: I couldn’t wait to turn this book over to my daughter when it arrived. It’s so soft and actually cuddly. And the ball? So much fun. As for my daughter? She is a tough sell on books, but I did catch her playing with this and checking out the bright pictures. Good sign! I am so loving this eeBee book. It would make a great gift for a young child in your life.

Cate says: My 10-month-old daughter loves storytime. She usually squishes herself between me and my six-year-old son and grabs at the book frequently while I’m trying to read. Some nights it’s a story for her, some nights it’s a story for him. But they’ve all been paperback or board books so far, until eeBee’s came along. I actually hadn’t heard of eeBee’s until recently when my mom bought my niece an eeBee doll. We love the squishable softness of the book and it’s a total bonus that we can just throw it into the wash for a quick clean-up. Cute and playful colors, we’re new fans here…

… and now you can have your very own eeBee’s book. They have generously sent us a few extra that we’d like to give away to The Voice of Mom readers. Today we have Laundry Time Adventures up for grabs. Perfect for kids age 9-36 months, it can be yours. To enter, leave a comment and let us know your favorite book for tots. Twitter this post (and let us know) and get an extra entry. Contest deadline is 5 pm EST and winner will be chosen by random generator and announced here. Good luck!

What They Forgot To Tell Us

what they forgot

eebee Books!

The people at Sterling Publishing were nice enough to share some Eebee books with us. We got three books from them. Thomas is in all kinds of heaven!

His favorites so far are Eebee’s Peek-a-Boo and Eebee’s Hug & Splash. The Peek-a-Boo book is cloth and is the perfect size for him to turn pages and lift scarves and hats to find Eebee. He needs some help to maneuver some of the fabric, but knows what to do and is quickly catching on. The Hug & Splash book is for the bath. You can imagine his delight when he discovered that Eebee got to come in the bathtub with him! There are places to squeak, water “shoots” out of the sponge and shower and Thomas can easily turn the pages. Both of these books are great.

The Have a Ball book is also a winner. A ball is attached on a string in this cloth book. Each page has a new adventure for Eebee and the ball. Thomas really enjoys the book, but can’t handle this one on his own at all.

We are looking forward to reading the Laundry Time Adventure book, but haven’t gone to buy it yet.
